Cookies and Cream, Cream Puffs

hello and welcome to n.r.b crafts!! today I would like to share with you this super yummy cream puffs recipe that I found a while back.

cookies and cream is a classic flavor and what better way to enjoy this classic flavor than in the form of cream puffs.


Recipe:

start by separating the cream and the cookies form 25 chocolate cookie sandwiches (I recommend using double-stuffed Oreos) and crushing the cookies in a blender or a food processor.


Cream:

* 2 egg yolk

*2 cups half &half

*1/4 cup sugar

*1/4 cup cornstarch


In a pot on low heat combine the egg yolks, half &half, sugar, and the cornstarch. turn up the heat to a medium-high while you whisk constantly to prevent lumps. Once the cream begins to thicken add in half of the cookie cream of the cookies, stir until the mixture is smooth. once finished transfer the cream into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap; press the plastic onto the surface of the cream so a skin wont form and chill the mixture.


Puffs:

* 1 cup water

* 8 Tbls butter (1 stick of butter)

* 1/2 cup flour

*1/2 cup crushed cookies

*4 eggs


In a separate pot combine the water and the butter and bring it to a boil. Once boiled add in the flour and the crushed cookies until the dough comes together and remove it from the heat. Then, add the eggs one at a time until the dough becomes a paste. After you prepare the dough transfer it to a large piping page with a large round tip. line a baking sheet with parchment paper and begin to pipe 1-inch mounds.


Bake the puffs for about 20-25 mins on an oven preheated to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake until the pastry rises considerably and the inside of the puff is dry. Once they are baked poke a whole on the bottom of each puff. Now returning to our cream; take a piping bag with a small tip and fill it with the cream; now fill each puff with the chilled cream.


After you have filled your cream puffs take the remanding cookie cream and microwave it for about 30 seconds, then stir to smooth it out. Take the cream puffs one by one and dip them into the softened cookie cream and sprinkle the top with the remaining crushed cookies.
